Redskins win big at Pinewood Derby!

Bailey worked hard over winter break to make his Pinewood Derby car. He carved out the car, painted it Redskins’ burgundy and gold colors, put on decals, coated it with a varnish and finally placed the driver. He even added a goal post! Saturday, Jan. 21 was the official weigh-in and race. We arrived early and his Redskins car weighed in at 3.85 ounces (max is 5 ounces). But we soon realized that the goal post was not going to clear the timer at the end. Gray clipped about 1/4 inch of the base of the post and we had to turn it so that his car would fit under the finish line.

There were a lot of creative cars – one was a Wii remote, there was an American flag and it was carved as if the flag was flowing in the wind. They raced the cars several times and then presented the awards.

Bailey’s car finished 3rd place in his Den (Bears)! They also had fun categories (most creative, most patriotic, best shape, etc...) Bailey won Best Sports Themed Car. This means that his Redskins car beat out a couple OU and OSU cars! It also helped that our family all wore our Redskins gear.

It was a lot of fun and he’s already planning for next year’s event.

Who are those color people?

Orange Man: Chris

Now you have to ask yourself- "is this really the most practical costume?" How do they eat candy- they don't even have any mouths!
